POSITION  ANNOUNCEMENT 

Job Title:               Admissions Specialist

Department:           Graduate School

Reports To:            Dean

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  1. Greets students/walk-ins/faculty/staff, answers the telephone, checks mail and e-mail and responds to issues/questions.
     

  1. Reviews online application upload for accuracy and tracks payment.  Manages creation of new application files.  Monitors applications and informs applicants of missing documents.  Prepares appropriate letters of admission and enters data appropriately.
     

  1. Evaluates student progress and determines courses needed to qualify for graduation.

4.       4.   Interprets graduate student problems/concerns/issues.  Determines best course of action to resolve them. 

5.       5.    Interprets faculty and graduate problems/concerns/issues.  Determines best course of action to resolve them. 

6.      6.   Evaluates student status and determines appropriateness of student request to register prior to admission; signs          registration permit if appropriate. 

7.       7.    Manages special programs such as Professional Development and Teacher Education Institute. 

8.       8.    Monitors student files for compliance with conditions of admission. 

9.       9.    Provides secretarial support to the Dean of the Graduate School. 

10.   10.   Manages reception, data entry, and appropriate distribution of mail. 

11.  11.  Represents the Graduate School and participates with the planning, preparation, and staffing of special events as           needed. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access; Jenzabar software; ability to work with students and faculty; ability to organize work processes and events.  Complete understanding of Admissions process, academic actions, and degree audit/graduation procedures necessary; knowledge of graduate policies and procedures.
