POSITION  ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Job Title:                 Maintenance Mechanic

Department:             Physical Plant

Reports To:              Maintenance Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

1.         Operates and maintains high pressure boilers, air conditioning/refrigeration, and other related systems. 

2.         Operates and maintains pneumatic distribution and controls. 

3.         Operates and manages Energy Management System. 

4.         Responsible for Service Master Preventative  Maintenance Program. 

5.         Performs electrical and plumbing repairs as needed; locksmith repairs including lock pinning and key making. 

6.         Responsible for daily heating/cooling comfort calls throughout the university. 

7.         Works with outside contractors, when necessary, to assure quality work. 

8.         Maintains all lighting, electric motors, switch gears, power panels, branch circuits, battery emergency lighting, and repair, replace or relocate computer and communication cables. 

9.         Responsible for lawn maintenance, facility snow removal/plowing, and ice removal. 

10.        Responsible for shipping and receiving, ordering parts, stocking maintenance supplies. 

11.        Operates fork lift when needed; responsible for university vehicle maintenance. 

12.        Responsible for moving furniture when necessary. 

13.               Performs minor construction, carpentry and concrete work. 
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; working knowledge of a boiler cycle and concept, refrigeration cycle, pneumatics, electrical, pipe fitting, and plumbing.  Five to ten years HVAC experience and familiarity with building automation systems and control required.
